Why Quillen is the Best Medical School in the World— For Some People
September 14, 2015
The following is a guest blog from QCOM favorite, Doug Taylor. We asked him to write about his thoughts on one of his best-known catch phrases: that Quillen is the best school in the nation— for some people. His dedication to Quillen is renowned by prospective students, current students, and alumni alike, and we're thankful for his contribution.— Megan Maier, Blog Editor

I often tell people that “Quillen is the very best medical school in the nation----for some people.” What I mean by this is that we are different. We’re small, not in a large metro area, we’re very personal, we’re innovative in many ways, we have leading technology, we truly care about the success of our students, we share life with them and not just school. We communicate. We teach for the learning and the ability to use knowledge rather than for the grades. We take a lot of pride in our school and our students—especially in their successes. We’re not afraid to lead---or to follow, according to the situation. We speak up and share our thoughts. We revel in the successes of others and we don’t disparage.
We know that Quillen is not the best place for everyone, but we believe it to absolutely be the best place for some. By the same token, we believe some applicants to be the best for us, but not everyone. We truly seek out those students who demonstrate, and give evidence, that they are the best fit for us and will help us further the mission and goals of our institution. We highly value these things. It’s what we are about. Good physicians that we would seek out to treat our spouses, mothers and children with ability, passion and understanding.
Want to know more about us? This web site is a good place to start and see what our students say. Un coached and unobserved. The students are the ones that will give you the real story on this school or any other. Might we be the best school for you? Ask our students.
On behalf of our school, our students and graduates, thanks for looking.
