Our Mission
The Quillen College of Medicine (QCOM) Family Medicine Group (FMIG) introduces students to family medicine through speakers, workshops, and community service. All Quillen students are considered members and are welcome to participate in any or all events. Whether you want to pursue family medicine as a career or not, there is plenty of ways to learn and service with FMIG!

Message to Students:
Students and friends --
Thanks for visiting the Family Medicine Interest Group webpage! We’re excited to serve you this year as your FMIG executive board.
And hey -- congratulations! You’re already a part of FMIG! All ETSU students are welcome to attend FMIG events throughout the year, no dues or membership requirements.
East Tennessee State University’s Quillen College of Medicine has a particular interest in educating physicians in primary care, and thus our FMIG is extremely active. We coordinate various leadership opportunities, as well as a wide variety of community service opportunities within the Johnson City community for all students to enjoy. We’ll also be bringing in residents to teach skills workshops and physicians to talk about their Family Medicine practice.
Throughout the upcoming year, we want to provide programming that helps you explore whether Family Medicine is the right path for you, but we also hope that our programming has a wide enough scope to be applicable to whatever your future holds. We recognize that as students, our path changes daily, and our programs and leadership opportunities should build the skills that make great physicians in any field. We’ll be talking about leadership in medicine, interprofessionalism, and advocacy -- hot topics for physicians in any specialty.
We can’t wait to see you at our events and hope you’ll enjoy them enough to consider applying for ambassador positions and executive leadership in the coming year. In the meantime, please check out our facebook page here, or email us at with any questions or suggestions.
Thanks for stopping by!
